Dear Ron, On behalf of the editors of Target Market News, it is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as the recipient of “Research Executive of the Year” for the 2006 Marketing to African-Americans with Excellence (MAAX) Awards®. The MAAX Awards are presented annually to recognize the contributions, innovations and exceptional performance of African-American professionals in the fields of marketing, advertising, media and consumer research. This year’s ceremony will be the first of an annual presentation. Eligible candidates are selected by the editors, writers and contributors of Target Market News, and are considered on the basis of the longevity of their careers and the professional accomplishments that distinguish them within the industry. Candidates are considered both because they are (1) African-American executives with distinct professional accomplishments, and (2) throughout the course of their careers they have endeavored to promote greater understanding of, growth of, and sensitivity toward, the African-American consumer market. The honorees for the First Annual MAAX Awards will be acknowledged on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at an awards dinner during the Seventh Annual Black Consumer Research and Advertising Summit. The event is hosted by Target Market News at the Chicago Wyndham Hotel. Among the other recipients for the 2006 MAAX Awards are Sydney Small, Chairman, Access.1 Communications Corp.; Tom Burrell, Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Burrell advertising agency; and JerriDeVard, Senior Vice President, Brand Management and Marketing, Verizon.
